Needs and Desires

Just finished a storybook recently, and found that the author has a similar thinking to mine that I wrote in one of the blogs.

The story goes for a man who is very successful in his PR consultancy business and even expands his business from UK to US. He is in his 30s and wanted to do more to impress his biologicial mother. However, one of his business partners who is also his dear senior, around 50 years old, got a heart attack one day and while visiting him, he heard about another guy who died with a heart attack and also in his thirties.
He is very disturbed with the realisation that time is too short in one's life. He starts to stop working for a while, and walks from one end to another end of the town and realises the tall buildings are structured and arranged in such ways that energy and people are trapped within the area. The sunlight shines on the buildings and get reflected from one place to another till absorbed in some place, but never coming out. The people walk in circles within the working area till they are old. (Reminds me of a OCBC ad: Works from 9 to 5, do you really want to work till 95?) Well, he starts giving away his Prada shoes, suites etc. Ehh okiee, that sounds stupid, giving away expensive things. But this is not the key point.

This is the sentence that rythmes with my thinking:
We're on this planet for too short a time. At the end of the day, what is more important? Knowing that a few meaningless figures that balanced - or knowing that you were the person you wanted to be?

My question is that a number on a piece of paper is more important - or the love between 2 people is more important?
Isn't it possible to strengthen the love between the 2 people, have good health, have each other, appreciate the beauty of life and work towards the goals with stronger strength and understanding??

Read something like these and add in a bit of my thoughts too:
- A house is just a lonely shell if there is no love and laughter no matter how big it is. (but of course, I dun mind a comfortable house with gym, swimming pool, steam room, ktv room and doggies!)
- A car is just an empty shell if there is no laughter and kisses no matter how posh it is. (and the more posh, the more liability, the more heartache you will have when something bad happens)
- Clothes and accessories are just items that we will throw after using a few times no matter how branded they can be. (that is why women go shopping to compare prices and grab the cheap deals when there is a sale! *keekeekee*)

I know of people who are simple-minded and just want to enjoy life while they can as they think anything can happen the next minute. They do not want to have any regrets, but some of us might think that they are happy-go-lucky and what if they need money? However, they are not wrong.
I know of people who want to retire early and enjoy life, that is why they think of all ways to earn money. They might lose other things especially love and friends, and even themselves. Remember the clause: 高处不胜寒?Nevertheless, they are not wrong too.
I just want to earn enough money to pay what I need to pay, buy what I need and want for myself and friends and also save for the rainy days. Then, I would have time for my loved ones, family and friends. I guess I am not wrong too..
The wrong thing is only when different mindset of 2 people fall in love. Then again, even if you match up 2 people of similar mindsets, they might not fall in love too.. *Sigh*

傻人有傻福、有些事情不知道比知道得好、人之初性本善, money/greed is the root of evil... These things are not said for no reason..

Well...i guess having 'similar' mindsets is important but i guess end of the day is how both understand each other and learn to compromise and build up their lifes. ;)
