Diamond Blood

Watched this movie sometimes ago.. Think it's really quite a good one.. Can go rent the movie..

Set against the backdrop of civil war and chaos in 1990's Sierra Leone, Blood Diamond is the story of Danny Archer (Leonardo DiCaprio) - a South African mercenary - and Solomon Vandy (Djimon Hounsou) - a Mende fisherman. Both men are African, but their histories as different as any can be, until their fates become joined in a common quest to recover a rare pink diamond that can transform their lives. While in prison for smuggling, Archer learns that Solomon - who was taken from his family and forced to work in the diamond fields - has found and hidden the extraordinary rough stone. With the help of Maddy Bowen (Jennifer Connelly), an American journalist whose idealism is tempered by a deepening connection with Archer, the two men embark on a trek through rebel territory, a journey that could save Solomon's family and give Archer the second chance he thought he would never have.

Well, the above is an extract I got from the website.. Some incidents in the movie made me think that the movie good... One is about the past everyone tries to hide from others and how some people think their past is quite tragic but to find that some people have even more tragic story but trying hard to forget.. That makes me reflect about the truth.. You would really want to forget it if it is really so sad.. So I guess if you can keep repeating the story, it's not so bad after all..

Another part is how Solomon's family got broken up by these stupid civil wars.. It's really 自己人打自己人！The government trying to protect the civilians while some of the civilians are captured and brain washed to be killer of the civilians and government soldiers. Break my heart.. The revolutionary soldiers believed that they could run the country better than the government with their killings of civilians, capturing strong men to dig the diamonds and training young boys and men to be killers.. Maddening..
Solomon was captured to work in the diamond field, his son was captured to be trained to be a killer, and hated his father for not being able to protect him, and his wife and 2 young daughters being kept in the refugee camp within their own country and not able to live with Solomon when he managed to escape and find them for fear he was a revolutionary soldier in disguise!

Another fact about how these conflict diamonds come about.. America governemnt trying to stop the import of conflicts diamonds, but yet they had the highest volume of import of diamonds because they had the biggest boss who bought the diamonds, kept the diamonds to jack up the price and in the end, caused more misery in these countries who have the diamonds but was used by these people..

Yet, I still love diamond.. Shit***
